Corn Dolly Candle

£10.00

A stunning little beeswax corn dolly candle with a cotton wick.

I believe this Corn dolly effigy is inspired by the eastern Slavic folk custom of the “butter lady” who serves butter on pancakes during the festival Maslenitsa, an ancient and beloved holiday in eastern slavic culture celebrating a farewell to winter and the welcoming of spring, honouring death, birth and resurrection, much like most European customs at this time of year. That’s the beauty of folk customs, its nuance varies from region to region, tales of rites carried on the tongue of ancestors from generation to generation to lands afar and back again.

effigies and folly candles can be used for healing, hexing , prosperity all matters of sympathetic magic or merely just as an altar offering.
